7.4V Balanced Charger for Lithium Ion Batteries


There are many well-known lithium-ion battery chargers. What is a balanced lithium-ion battery charger? Why choose a balanced charger for lithium-ion batteries?


We take the 7.4V lithium-ion battery balanced charger as an example to illustrate the situation briefly.


SINOLI battery 7.4V lithium-ion battery balanced charger is a new type of lithium-ion battery charger. As mentioned above, lithium-ion batteries will produce many inconsistencies in voltage, capacity and internal resistance during series-parallel connection, which will lead to insufficient voltage and battery capacity attenuation. More obviously, it leads to excessive discharge, which causes irreversible damage to battery cells.


The 7.4V lithium-ion battery balanced charger is different from the ordinary lithium-ion battery charger. The main reason is that the 7.4V lithium-ion battery balanced charger has the following special pins:


  •     1). VREG (pin 10): Internal power supply. VREG is an internal power supply with an external 0.1uF bypass capacitor to ground, which can drive up to 5mA.


  •     2).  CS (pin 13): Lithium ion state chip selection input. The CS high input level (VREG) will make TP5100 in the 8.4V switching off voltage state of lithium ion battery charging. The suspension of CS terminal makes TP5100 in 4.2V shutdown voltage state of lithium ion battery. Low input level makes TP5100 in shutdown state. The CS terminal can be controlled by TTL or CMOS level driver.
